If you’re reading this, it means you’ve managed to find the Rudy Duo Studio website! Welcome!
Josh and I are so excited for the launch of our new venture into creating a love-filled artist space. Since the beginning of the pandemic, we have been brainstorming how we can have an outlet to step away from our busy lives and step into a world of art. I personally had not found an art media that clicked with me. Unlike Josh, whose job is literally teaching art on a daily basis, I didn’t have an active role in art. Josh realized I needed a way to focus on an achievable goal; one that could help manage my anxiety, stress, and depression. The moment we started throwing pottery on the wheel, I had found my calling. Shortly after, we began to plan our future in ceramics.
The number one thing we knew when planning Rudy Duo Studio was that it shouldn’t be restricted to us. I didn’t have access to this form of art for a long time and never knew what I was missing. Now we want to see our community get the same opportunity.
So what can you expect from the Rudy Duo Studio? Some of that is still being figured out, honestly. Our goal is to have fun, educational opportunities paired with social events. Additionally, we are working to find a way to have the studio space bookable for use; just know you get to hang with us! Beyond that, we are still planning, but we want to know what you’d like to see too! Head over to the contact page to find out how to get in touch. Also, make sure to sign up for Pottery Throw, our email newsletter. We haven’t worked out a frequency of sending out the newsletter, but we definitely won’t be spamming you!
To the local Pittsboro community and to the larger online community, we hope we can bring a space to the world that promotes love, equity, diversity, inclusion, and feels welcoming to all. We aim to destigmatize discussions around mental health; understanding that art can be a way to improving mental health. So come by, be yourself, and have a great time.
Stay tuned for updates!
Adam Rudy
